Update Your Address ASAP… First Fan Club Mailers Are Almost Ready to Go!

Epic Spell Wars fans,

Cory is locked up in a dungeon putting the finishing touches on the first FAN-FUCKINGTASTIC FRIENDS mailers and expects to start sending them at the end of this week! The reason for the slight delay is that the replacement cards (with better cardstock) arrived earlier than expected. So rather than sending you cards we weren’t happy with one month and then the replacement cards the next month, we decided to wait a few days to get it right the first time.

IMPORTANT: We are still a few weeks away from locking addresses on BackerKit for your games, BUT if you pledged for FAN-FUCKINGTASTIC FRIENDS, you need to update your address immediately. Please login to your BackerKit account and make sure your address is current by WEDNESDAY (March 23).

Production Delay

Update from Epic Spell Wars creator Cory Jones:

Well, I have some good news and some bad news…

Bad news first: Sadly, we ran into a production issue and it WILL be delaying the shipment of ANNIHILAGEDDON 2 and all the other rewards. We had approved digitally printed card samples with the understanding that the final product would have some differences. First and foremost, the card stock would be consistent with the directive we gave the factory: “exactly the same as the first ANNIHILAGEDDON game.” So fast forward to a week ago when I got the final goods for 12 MONTHS’ worth of FAN-FUCKINGTASTIC FRIENDS cards and the card stock was NOT what I wanted it to be.

I had a fucking aneurysm… seriously, card stock is something I am VERY passionate about. I literally blew a blood vessel in my eye (I should have taken a picture). After going back and forth with our factory, the only solution is to have a DIFFERENT factory print the cards and ship them to the first factory to be packed out with all the other stuff. To be clear: The original factory is very good. The sculpted stuff (why we went with them in the first place) will be amazing and the packaging (fluorescent, etc.) will be amazing. The problem is the cards are just slightly off, and it’s not something I can let go of (most players wouldn’t have noticed, but again I am psycho about card quality). So… it’s adding 45 days to our process (printing the new cards and shipping them) AND (not your problem) annihilating our bottom line. We expect games to start fulfilling in late June now.

Here’s the mildly good news: The product WILL be perfect. Still, I apologize: The delay was a total surprise. I will be sending out the first month’s FAN-FUCKINGTASTIC FRIENDS mailer as planned. I’ll replace the card in it in a following month’s mailer (this may go on for a couple of months as we get the new cards printed). TO BE CLEAR: When you get the replacement card, I expect you to burn the old one. If you don’t, I WILL come to you in your dreams, Freddy Krueger-style, seeking vengeance. So look for that first fan club mailer at the end of the month!! That’s exciting 😊

Factory Samples!

Epic Spell Wars fans,

Epic Spell Wars: ANNIHILAGEDDON 2, Gang Bangers, and all the add-ons and stretch goals are moving toward the finish line.... and that means samples from the factory! These are digitally printed, but should give a great approximation of the final product. Seeing it all in person for the first time is such a rush, and our team spent lots of time pouring over EVERY detail. We found a couple things we wanted to tweak to make it even better, but we are very close to giving the green light to start actual manufacturing.

Enough of our sweet words… where are the pictures?! Take a first look at ANNIHILAGEDDON 2 and Gang Bangers!

Production Update! Plus Steven Rhodes Games Vol. 2 Kickstarter Is LIVE!

Epic Spell Wars fans,

Production on ANNIHILAGEDDON 2 continues to move forward pretty smoothly. We have checked proofs, samples, and files from the factory for the cards, dice, playmat, trophy, XTREME Nacho Power Chips, and more. Our team spent lots of extra time working with the factory to improve the tray for the game so that cards can fit sleeved. It means the box will be a bit bigger/taller than initially planned, but we’re good with that. Since everything is going so well, we’re spending a little extra time having members of our team go over the rulebook to make sure everything is covered and it’s all as clear as possible. That should be wrapped up by next week. We’re still on schedule and should have some new previews for you next time!
